AVALANCHE SIGNS BURKE | NHL.com

DENVER – Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has signed striker Cal Burke to a one-year contract through the 2021-22 season. Burke remains with the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League.

Burke, 24, has taken 14 points (6g / 8a) in 19 games for the Eagles this season. He ranks fifth on the team on points and is third in goals. Now in his second professional campaign, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound right wing has scored 23 points (8 g / 15a) in 52 career AHL competitions, all with the Eagles. He scored one point (0g / 1a) in two postseason competitions in 2021.

Before turning pro, Burke played four seasons for the University of Notre Dame from 2016-20, where he served as the assistant captain in his junior year before being named team captain for its senior season in 2019-20. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound middle / right wing garnered 88 points (36g / 52a) in 146 career games with the Fighting Irish, helping the team win consecutive Big Ten championships and in 2017 and To rise to the Frozen Four in 2018. He was tied for the team with high goals (12) as a junior and finished second in goals (14) in the second year.

A native of Boxborough, Massachusetts, played two full seasons for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League from 2014 to 2016, scoring a total of 79 points (34g / 45a) in 121 USHL competitions and adding four points (3g / 1a) in eight added competitions after the season. Burke served as the captain of the RoughRiders in his last 2015-16 campaign.
