Bitrefill enables people in El Salvador to pay their bills with Bitcoin

In El Salvador, Bitrefill, a company that enables users to pay for their daily needs with Bitcoin, has launched a bill payment service.

On September 7, 2017, El Salvador declared Bitcoin legal tender and called on all institutions to accept Bitcoin as payment.

Despite President Nayib Bukele’s mandate, many companies still have to acquire the technology necessary to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment for their goods and services.

Many ways to pay with Bitcoin

Bitrefill promises to solve this problem by allowing El Salvadorans to pay over 150 different bills in Bitcoin.

El Salvador is setting the stage for a circular bitcoin economy where crypto is traded between people and businesses rather than on digital currency exchanges.

According to a press release from Press Wire, Bitrefill believes using your own Bitcoin wallet will soon be as popular as using video conferencing.

Access to over 4,000 gift cards

Bills from the Social Fund for Housing, a government agency that provides loans for home purchases, and AES, a company that supplies electricity in the Central American country, are among the services that can be paid for in Bitcoin, the company said the company said it would accept Bitcoin conference in El Salvador.

PuntoXpress, a local platform that enables payment for basic services and mobile top-ups, will provide Bitrefill with the service in El Salvador.

According to Bitrefill, users must provide an email address in order to receive a receipt and, if applicable, a voucher code.

Bitrefill is a well-known Bitcoin startup that offers access to more than 4,000 gift cards in exchange for Bitcoin. They partnered with Salvadoran company Hugo App earlier this year to enable Bitcoin trading for a wide range of Hugo’s goods and services.
