Dame Dash goes global with a new documentary series and joint venture

Damon Dash is making serious moves in power with his latest global distribution deal that will produce a host of new documentary series about the hip hop explosion around the world!

Dame Dash has always been at that next level as an entertainment visionary.

So it shouldn’t come as a shock that he’s making his movement international and, with his new TV and film company, proposing a way to shake Harlem in Europe, Africa and Asia.

The man behind much of Roc-A-Fella Records’ success is also one of the first in hip-hop history to venture into movies since the 1990s. He was responsible for hood classics like “Paid in Full”, “State Property” and “Paper Soldiers”.

He has helped fund such films as The Woodsman starring Kevin Bacon, David Alan Grier, Benjamin Bratt, Eve and Mos Def, and notoriously Lee Daniel’s award-winning film, Precious.

As a TV manager, his stamp is behind shows (in which he starred) like “The Ultimate Hustler” and “Growing Up Hip Hop”.

Now Damon will host and co-produce a 10-episode documentary series entitled “Hip-Hop Invasion” through his joint venture with the Dutch media company 4Mat Factory.

The series will document the explosion of hip hop culture in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa, China, Japan, Poland, Brazil, Turkey and other countries around the world.

Lydia de Vreede, COO of 4Mat Factory, said of the new project: “Our partnership with Dame Dash Studios and the current projects are just the beginning of even bigger things to come.”

Some of the great things to see outside of Hip-Hop Invasion are Rocky Road, a documentary about IVF and infertility, and an animated series called Dusko Goes to Space. Both are projects of Dash’s partner Raquel M. Horn.

4Mat Factory and Damon Dash Studios will also release the feature-length film Honor Up, starring Dame and Cam’ron, produced by Executive Producer Kanye West.

Two weeks ago, Damon Dash Studios announced that they will be bringing original content to FOX SOUL every Saturday at 4:00 p.m. PT / 7:00 p.m. ET starting October 9th for Health.
