Set pieces from the dance club and video arcade games from the upcoming “Tron: Legacy” will be part of the new entertainment experience at Disney California Adventure.
Disney is launching a new performance and dance party based on the “Tron” movie called ElecTRONica, which begins October 8th in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area. The film will be released on December 17th.
George Kalogridis, President of the Disneyland Resort, revealed new details about the ElecTRONica party on Saturday during a convention of the official Disney fan club D23. ElecTRONica dancers performed during the Kalogridis presentation at the D23 event.
The film “Tron: Legacy”, a sequel to the 1982 film, brings characters into a video game world – a concept that is recreated in the theme park. The party will be similar to the Glow Fest held at California Adventure in the park that summer.
The Stage 17 building will be a replica of Flynn’s Video Arcade, where visitors can play all of the classic 1980s arcade games that are part of the film, Kalogridis said. Outside, visitors can also try out the new video game “TRON: Evolution” before it goes on sale on December 7th, according to a Disney press release.
Actual set pieces from the End of the Line Club in “Tron: Legacy” will be part of the dance floor at California Adventure, Kalogridis said.
Visitors can get both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from a special “Tron” themed food truck and from the End of the Line Club, which can also be seen in the film. See an earlier story about selling alcohol at Disney Park.
The party starts at 6 p.m. in the Sunshine Plaza near the park entrance with a dance, video and music show. When the sun goes down, the party moves to the Hollywood Pictures Backlot, where visitors should feel like they are stepping into the computer grid world. A grid will be on the dance floor and “Tron” images will be on the walls.
A performer named Laserman is going to do tricks with lasers and lights.
An exclusive 3D film clip from “Tron: Legacy” will be shown in the cinema, which normally runs Muppet * Vision 3D.
