A Dogecoin developer minted the very first NFT of the cryptocurrency on its blockchain and confirmed the transaction on Twitter.
The person behind the NFT, Inevitable360, caught the attention not only of other developers but also of Dogecoin founder Billy Markus.
For its hard work, Inevitable360 was tapped using SoDogeTip, a tipping bot launched earlier this month that is available on both Twitter and Reddit.

The developer confirmed that the mint only cost 0.1 DOGE (or $ 0.0018), a stark contrast to the NFT fees for blockchains like Ethereum, which can set you back hundreds of dollars at times.
The future of Dogecoin?
Although it is the first NFT to be minted on the Dogecoin blockchain, the efficiency of the transaction could potentially make it a viable project.
One of the project developers, Michi Lumin, said, “NFTs with no gas fees and less energy consumption. Very nice. Doge too. Impressive.”
The recent surge in Dogecoin, aided by its most famous fan, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who claimed the altcoin was being accepted as payment for Tesla goods.
2022 will be an interesting year for Dogecoin, which according to CoinMarketCap is currently the tenth largest cryptocurrency. The fanfare of his first NFT could be a more permanent endeavor in the field.
