Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has once again stirred up the proverbial “dog’s nest” with another tweet about the epitome of the meme coin Dogecoin (DOGE).
Musk tweeted Tuesday and conducted a Twitter poll asking respondents if Tesla should accept Dogecoin as a payment method.
Do you want Tesla to accept Doge?

The poll, which was released at 8:00 a.m. UTC, received over 400,000 responses in the first 10 minutes and is close to the 1 million mark at the time of writing. Musk’s Twitter poll will take 24 hours and could be a precursor for the company to add the popular meme coin as a payment method.
Dogecoin proponents have urged the Tesla CEO to add the Shiba-Inu-themed cryptocurrency to their list of accepted payment methods as Musk obviously has a fondness for the token.
In fact, the responses to the survey were overwhelmingly positive, with around 78% of respondents in favor of Tesla accepting Dogecoin payments.
As expected, Musk’s tweet sparked a significant reaction on Dogecoin price, with the following 15-minute chart showing a sudden surge in price for DOGE coinciding with the time the survey was released.

Dogecoin is up more than 10,600% since the start of the year and appeared to be on course for the $ 1 mark in early May due to the feverish market buzz.
The enthusiasm for Dogecoin was so great that internet search interest for DOGE surpassed Bitcoin for the first time, according to Google Trends.
Tuesday’s tweet is the latest to link Dogecoin to one of Musk’s companies. As Cointelegraph previously reported, Geometric Energy Corporation – a Canadian manufacturing and logistics company – has announced plans for a DOGE-powered payload on one of SpaceX’s first rockets to the moon.
Tesla is already accepting Bitcoin (BTC) as a means of payment for its electric vehicles. The company made the announcement back in March, while also announcing its intention to operate a Bitcoin node. Tesla has also stated that it will “HODL” the BTC payments received for its cars.
