It’s been a strong start to the week for Bitcoin price, which has soared around six percent in the past 24 hours to just under $ 66,000. That puts it within reach of its most recent record of more than $ 67,000, the highest in nearly three weeks. In fact, new all-time highs have already been reached in a number of regions, including South Africa.
The boom comes as competition intensifies among U.S. mayors to establish their city as the home of crypto-innovation. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez said last week he would take his next paycheck in bitcoin only. In order not to excel, New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams said he would take his first three paychecks in cryptocurrency. Will someone bid the next five paychecks?
That’s better news for Ethereum (ETH), which hit another new record high this morning. The second largest cryptocurrency is currently changing hands for just over 4,700 US dollars, an increase of 2.6 percent in the last 24 hours.
Ethereum has now hit a series of record highs in the past two weeks and is temptingly close to $ 5,000, which would mark an important psychologically important milestone. Can it get there?
