Last week, Litecoin along with the UFC 235 clique received notable attention from its users when Ben Askren, the UFC 235 celebrity, wore a Litecoin Foundation shirt. In not-too-different news, Litecoin also partnered with GLORY, which will now sell its merchandise together with is fiat on its official merchandise website in LTC. Xinxin Wang, director of a Litecoin Foundation, also attended an interview while the Loitecoin Foundation was making a good attempt at selling K-POP tickets in LTC. With bitcoin ATMs growing in popularity, cryptocurrencies can now also be purchased in convenience stores, as is the case with one of them in Toronto.
Here’s a quick look at Litecoin stories trending on the r / litecoin subreddit.
Litecoin seen at UFC 235
People loved it when Ben Askren, the famous UFC fighter, shared his story about buying it with LTC. He continued to encourage the community to choose crypto. Perhaps the celebrity athlete was so encouraging to the cryptocurrency that Redditors noticed he was wearing a Litecoin that read “#PayWithLitcoin” and a very noticeable “Litecoin” label. His T-shirt appearance was featured in UFC 235 Embedded: Vlog Series – Episode 3 (a clearer look can be seen at 1:50 of the episode) released on February 27.
In early January, Askren also posted a video on Twitter expressing his enthusiasm for the Litecoin Foundation, which sponsored him for UFC 235.
Litecoin works with GLORY
This week Litecoin partnered with GLORY Kickboxing, the world’s leading kickboxing league. With the partnership, goods are now sold in LTC on GLORYshop.com, their official website. According to the Litecoin Foundation, thanks to the partnership, GLORY is “the first professional sports league to integrate Litecoin into the end-to-end fan experience”. With the partnership set, Litecoin will gain popularity among a new audience and gain worldwide notoriety as GLORY is an international brand. According to the blog, the Litecoin Foundation states, “We see these types of partnerships as an opportunity to reach out to passionate audiences around the world and inform them about the power of Litecoin.”
Interview with the director of the Litecoin Foundation, Xinxi Wang
The director of the Litecoin Foundation and one of the main developers of Litecoin, Xinxi Wang, gave an interview with Financial Underground Kingdom. One of the key highlights of the interview was Wang joining Litecoin because “Litecoin had a much more efficient and coherent team”. He was also asked about his Coinut.com project, a crypto exchange dedicated to trading the Singapore dollar and the US dollar. For exchanges, LTC is one of the three cryptocurrencies that can be used. Regarding the wallet preference for using LTC, Wang highly recommended Loaf because of its credibility and ease of use. When asked if Litecoin would switch to a PoS system like Ethereum, Wang refuted that the PoW system was far more secure than the PoS system. When asked to predict the price of LTC at the time of the LTC halving, Wang responded, “Check 2015. Perhaps this year may be even better than 2015 because of the lightning network and upcoming privacy features.”
