WINNIPEG, Manitoba – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Today the Province of Manitoba announced that Neo Financial (Neo) has received a $ 1.6 million grant under its Industry Expansion program. The program will support skills training for 300 new employees at Neo’s headquarters in Winnipeg in the downtown Exchange District.
Following the recent announcement of $ 64 million in Series B funding, Neo has continued to accelerate its new product development and strategic partnerships. This provincial grant will accelerate the expansion of the Winnipeg team and open up more opportunities for Winnipeg’s fast-growing technology industry.
“Canada’s banking sector is based on technology that is more than 50 years old and is incapable of rapidly innovating. That’s why Neo set out to build it from scratch, but for that we need more talented and motivated people to be part of that mission, “said Andrew Chau, Co-Founder and CEO of Neo Financial. “With the support of this scholarship, our team can build on existing talent in Winnipeg and provide opportunities for world-class education and a career where your work can impact millions of Canadians.”
“Technology and financial services are two of the most sought-after industries in Manitoba and North America for labor and customer demand,” said Jon Reyes, Minister for Economic Development and Employment. “Our government’s investments will support the growth of Manitoba’s information, communications and digital technology sectors, contribute to our provincial economy, and support our local economy by spending more on goods and services.”
As she continues to build her team in Winnipeg, Neo will host a series of recruiting and industry-focused events and meetings around the city focusing on roles in engineering, product development, creative and design, and financial technology operations.
