NEO has a full range of activities in October, including fall vacation events for students – YubaNet

GRASS VALLEY, California – Bright Futures for Youth’s NEO program has a full range of free events over the coming weeks, including activities for the fall break during the week of October 18-22.

NEO, which merged with The Friendship Club to create Bright Futures for Youth in the summer of 2020, offers a range of activities for 11-25 year olds in Nevada County.

After school activities, a class on how to look like a zombie on Halloween, and a visit to a nearby pumpkin patch are just a few of the events on offer over the next two weeks. And NEO continues the hugely popular junior high and high school groups and homework help evenings.

“We’re always looking for new, educational, and fun ways to connect with young people in the community,” said Jennifer Singer, executive director of Bright Futures for Youth. “As we all know, it has been 18 challenging months with the COVID pandemic and particularly difficult for the youth. Bringing them back together to connect, learn and have fun is what NEO is about. “

Like many extracurricular and youth-oriented programs, NEO is affected by COVID and the resulting health requirements. However, strict adherence to health protocols – including face masks and social distancing – has allowed activities to continue by limiting the number of participants.

Most of NEO activities meet at the Bright Futures for Youth offices at 200 Litton Drive, Suite 308 in Grass Valley.

Autumn (pause) is in the air

NEO has announced some student activities during the fall break, including a trip to a nearby pumpkin patch on Monday October 18 and a hike along the Cascade Canal Trail on Wednesday October 20.

In addition, the local make-up artist Jessi Starr runs a special effects activity in which they transform themselves into a zombie with make-up on October 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., just in time for Halloween.

And NEO has an Art Maker Space Series from 4pm to 6pm on October 21st and October 28th. The artist Aandra Aabdock leads the series that combines art with fun.

Of course, NEO continues to hold its popular junior high meetings on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4pm to 6.30pm and Tuesdays from 4pm to 6.30pm. And homework help is available on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
