NEO joins the .NET Foundation founded by Microsoft as the first blockchain member

NEO joined Microsoft’s .NET Foundation as a member, the first blockchain organization to do so. It appears that the project’s newest manager, Microsoft veteran John deVadoss, is making good use of his connections.

It appears that NEO’s newest executives are loosening their ties with Microsoft. John deVadoss, the current head of development at NEO in Seattle, was the former architect and director of .NET during his nine-year tenure at Microsoft. Peng Huang, who joined NEO with deVadoss, is another Microsoft veteran with more than a decade of corporate experience.

“Based on our shared core values and principles, I am confident that this partnership will accelerate developer innovations in order to drive the mass adoption of blockchain and lay the foundation for the next generation Internet,” announced deVadoss at the .NET conference 2019.

The partnership reflects NEO’s strategy of building the “most developer-friendly” ones to replace Ethereum.

NEO integrates a blockchain toolkit directly into .NET. The project aims to use the integration to improve the development of smart contracts and accelerate the creation of dApps on its blockchain – ultimately with the aim of attracting more software developers to the platform.

The functions of the integration include in particular an intelligent contract debugger, a life cycle manager for software development, improvements in the compilation and editing of intelligent contracts, more extensive libraries and a visual devtracker.

In a comment on CryptoSlate, deVadoss said:

“As the only major blockchain platform with a commitment to a multilingual developer community, this is another step in making smart contract development mainstream. Together with our friends in the .NET team at Microsoft and in the .NET Foundation, we are democratizing blockchain development. “

Erik Zhang, the founder and CTO of NEO, said:

“In the future, we expect to work closely with the .NET Foundation to provide the most developer-friendly blockchain infrastructure for .NET developers – as our recently introduced NEO Blockchain Toolkit for .NET illustrates.”
