PlayBox Neo announces the completion of a large broadcast playout system for Nilesat at its headquarters in Cairo. As one of the largest telecommunications networks in the Middle East, Nilesat offers a wide range of satellite-based facilities, including the transmission of over 700 television channels, 600 of which are free to air.
The new system was provided by PlayBox neo-channel partner Modern Broadcast Center (MBC), which is located on the west bank of the Nile, directly across from downtown Cairo.
Mohamed Samir, Broadcast Manager at Nilesat, explained the chosen solution: “We needed a solution that could be easily integrated into our existing infrastructure. The main requirements were a robust operating platform, user-friendly controls, easy expandability and good technical support. Sabri Arafa, CEO of MBC’s system integrator, explained the system functions as follows: “The system we have supplied includes 40 AirBox Neo playout servers in a one-plus-one configuration. One of the great strengths of AirBox Neo is its modularity with which we can specify the exact features needed to run each project. Items selected for the Nilesat project include AirBox Neo playback, CaptureBox Neo capture, Titlebox Neo graphics preparation and titling, SafeBox Neo content and playback broadcast, monitoring and control of the Multi Playout Manager and Multi Backup Manager. ”

Founded in 1996, Nilesat will operate satellite ground stations in City and Alexandria on October 6th.
