Oppo R17 Neo launched with in-display fingerprint sensor, 6.4-inch display, Snapdragon 660 SoC: price, specifications

The Chinese manufacturer Oppo has launched a new smartphone variant in its Oppo R17 series. After launching the Oppo R17 and Oppo R17 Pro in China, the company launched the Oppo R17 Neo in Japan. The main highlight of the Oppo R17 Neo is a fingerprint sensor in the display. Apart from that, the smartphone has a 6.4-inch display, is powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor and more. However, compared to the other variants in the product range, there have been some changes in terms of battery, RAM and camera specifications. It now has a 3,600 mAh battery, 4 GB of RAM and a dual camera setup with 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors.

As a reminder: Oppo had already officially presented the Oppo R17 in China in August this year. After several leaks, it was confirmed that the Oppo R17 is equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor, 8 GB of RAM and more. Later, in addition to the presentation of a premium variant of the Oppo R17 Pro, the company also revealed the price details of the handset. The Oppo R17 Pro, on the other hand, came with triple cameras and Super VOOC charging support. Interestingly, the design and specs of the Oppo R17 Neo are similar to the Oppo K1 recently launched in China.

Oppo R17 Neo price

According to a listing on the Japanese website UQCommunications, the price of Oppo R17 Neo has been set at JPY 38,988 (approximately Rs 25,500) in Japan. In the smartphone listing, the company also offers several monthly installment plans. However, prices and other details about the smartphone are not provided on the Oppo Japan official website. For comparison: The Oppo R17 cost CNY 3,499 (approx. 35,600 rupees) in China for the 8 GB RAM / 128 GB storage version and CNY 3,199 (approx. 32,600 rupees) for the 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage model. Meanwhile, the Oppo R17 Pro has been launched in China at a price of 4,299 CNY (about Rs 43,800). Notably, the Oppo R17 Neo comes with blue and red gradient models.

Oppo R17 Neo specifications

ColorOS 5.2 runs on the Oppo R17 Neo based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display in Full HD + (1080 x 2340 pixels). It is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with a clock rate of 1.95 GHz. It comes in a single 4 GB RAM variant.

Visually, the Oppo R17 Neo has a dual camera setup with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The smartphone has a 25-megapixel selfie camera on the front.

The Oppo R17 Neo is equipped with 128 GB of built-in memory, which can be expanded using a microSD card (up to 256 GB). The smartphone’s connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac and Bluetooth 5.0. As mentioned earlier, it has an in-display fingerprint sensor. The handset is powered by a 3,600 mAh battery. In terms of dimensions, the Oppo R17 Neo measures 158.3 x 75.5 x 7.4 mm and weighs 156 grams.
