Polka dot artist Yayoi Kusama’s exhibition in S’pore for 3 months from Mar. 27, 2020 – Mothership.SG

The sculptures from the “Hi, Konnichiwa!” series have been sold to a private buyer and will no longer be at the exhibition.

However, the number of works displayed will remain at 28, as the gallery has replaced the sculptures with more of Kusama’s works on paper and canvas.]

From Mar. 27, 2020, Yayoi Kusama’s artworks will once more be available in Singapore.

Kusama’s works was previously displayed at the National Gallery in 2017, in an exhibition titled “Yayoi Kusama: Life is the Heart of a Rainbow”.

During that period, the Infinity Mirrored Room took Singaporeans’ Instagram by storm.

The Japanese artist, who is known for her iconic dots, nets, and pumpkins, will have her work displayed at the Mucciaccia Gallery in Gillman Barracks this time round.

A total of 28 works, consisting of paintings, sculptures and work on paper from 1951 to 1981, will be available.

The Singapore exhibition will also showcase the signature sculptures from her “Hi, Konnichiwa (Hello)!” series that was first presented in the Mori Art Museum in 2004.

The upcoming exhibition also follows the Mucciaccia Gallery’s New York showing form Nov. 2019 – Feb. 2020.
