Terra Café
321 Northampton St., Easton; 610-330-6900
316 S. New St., Bethlehem, 610-758-8303
Taste:
Terra Cafe has a personality, a sabor – or taste – that co-owners Manuel Fresneda and Marcel Bedoya say is hard to tell. Customers only stop by for a cup of coffee, but spend the afternoon enjoying the friendly atmosphere of the café and grooving to the sound of salsa.
Extension:
Terra Cafe opened a second location in Bethlehem this week, occupying the former premises of the Wildflower Cafe and Gallery. Fresneda said the Bethlehem store will have longer hours to accommodate open mike nights and salsa display cases. The owners hope to expand the range of late night snacks in their second store, listing nachos and finger foods as possible menu items. Changing art exhibitions by local artists can be seen at both locations.
In the cup:
Java customers are treated to a range of fair trade tropical coffees (organic where they can). the
Colombian
(medium roast with a blackberry aroma and a hint of wheat toast) is a favorite from the owners’ native Colombia and the shop’s most popular brew. Other outstanding features include
Artist mix
(medium dark with a strong, earthy aroma and a hint of fruit) and
Ethiopia
(medium roast with sweet peach and citrus, with herbal tones). By the time you fill your mug, Bedoya says the beans have not even matured a month and come straight to the store from the importing country instead of sitting in a warehouse.

Terra Cafe offers a range of tempting sweets from Bethlehem’s Back Door Bakeshop, such as
lemon cake
(Prices vary) hard to resist
