Plenty of Key Players Sitting This One Out
The Colorado Avalanche are missing many of the players who led them to the Stanley Cup. Some headed elsewhere in the offseason while a few star players are on the injured list. Since falling to Boston 4-0 at home, Colorado has points in three straight games even with a makeshift lineup.
The Avalanche will be playing a Buffalo team that lead the NHL in scoring, averaging 3.93 goals per game and with an average of 1.14 power-play goals per game. The Sabers can also give up goals and scoring chances.
This will be the final game of forward Jeff Skinner’s three-game suspension as a result of a cross-check in a loss to Pittsburgh. Fellow winger Vinnie Hinostroza could be back for the Sabers. Buffalo continues to be without defensemen Henri Jokiharju and Ilya Lyubushkin.
The Sabers are still in better shape injury wise than Colorado as the Avalanche remain without injured first-line forwards Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon, center Evan Rodrigues as well as defensemen Bowen Byram, Kurtis McDermid and Josh Manson.
According to the NHL playoff odds, the Avalanche (+550) are first in the odds to win the Stanley Cup. The Sabers are well back at +12500.
Let’s check the latest NHL odds, stats, injury reports, and NHL lines for Sabers vs Avalanches. We’ve plenty of NHL betting odds for you to consider.

Only four-time NHL scoring champion Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers has more points and is averaging more points per game in the month of December.
Thompson has nine goals (two of them game winners) and six assists in six games while heading into Wednesday’s games, Cozens is tied for the NHL lead with 10 assists in December. Since Nov. 22, Thompson, Skinner and Cozens are among the top five point producers in the NHL with the Sabers going 6-3-2 during that time.
Alex Tuch, part of the trade that sent Jack Eichel to the Vegas Golden Knights, Jack Quinn and defenseman Rasmus Dahlin are also putting up at least a point per game during the month.
Nine of Buffalo’s last 12 games went over the Las Vegas odds total as well as in four of the last five road games.

Finding A Way
When Colorado has all of its players, the Avalanche can be one of the NHL’s most exciting teams to watch. With the injuries piling up, Colorado has had to do things a little differently.
The Avalanche has been involved in low-scoring affairs with each of the last four games featuring five goals or less.
Goalie Pavel Francouz has stopped 56 of 60 shots over the last two games as the Avalanche won back-to-back contests.
Leading scorer Mikko Rantanen, JT Compher, Alex Newhook, and Logan O’Connor are the only forwards to appear in all 27 games this season. Compher has three points in the last two games with Colorado going 8-1 while Compher has at least one point this season.
The NHL betting lines total has gone under in four of Colorado’s last five games. The total is at 6½ for this matchup.
