The Samsung Galaxy Store now offers decentralized TRON applications (dApps) for Samsung smartphone users in the US and Europe.
Samsung Galaxy Store and TRON now have their own area where Samsung smartphone users can access decentralized applications based on TRON’s blockchain.
According to the announcement, this is the first blockchain project that was presented in “one of the largest app stores in the world”.
They hope that more users will be able to experience “the next generation of blockchain-based applications” on their phones.
TRON’s history of partnership with Samsung
This latest breakthrough in their partnership with Samsung follows their initial efforts to continuously integrate TRON into mobile devices since October 2019.
Their first joint project was the Software Development Kit (SDK), which enabled users to connect to the TRON blockchain via their devices.
Some of the applications offered on the Samsung Galaxy Store are popular TRON decentralized applications, such as the following:
- Blockchain cutie
- Super player
- Meerkat mining
- Time warp
More applications are to be added to the Samsung Galaxy Store.
Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, said they enjoyed working with Samsung to make blockchain applications more accessible across mobile devices.
Sun adds that this endeavor will drive the integration of the blockchain and smartphone ecosystem together. According to the sun:
“This is an incredible opportunity for developers to migrate to and build on the TRON platform and introduce their applications to Samsung users.”
The decentralized applications that can be accessed via Samsung’s mobile devices are only available in those with integrated cryptocurrency wallets. Samsung’s wallet supports Tron (TRX), Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC).
Samsung introduces cryptocurrency wallets for more Galaxy smartphones
Since last year there have been reports that Samsung is planning to integrate cryptocurrency wallets into more Galaxy smartphones and to expand its services to other large countries.
According to Chae Won-cheol, Senior Managing Director of the Product Strategy Team at Samsung (translated from Korean):
“We will remove barriers to new experiences by gradually expanding the number of Galaxy models that support blockchain functions. We will also expand our service target countries to Korea, the USA and Canada. “
This development appears to be a step forward in Samsung’s foray into the blockchain world.
What is TRON?
TRON is a blockchain platform that aims to support a free and limitless exchange of digital content through distributed storage technology. This innovation facilitates the cost-effective exchange of digital information.
TRON uses the blockchain to bridge the gap between content creators and their audience without going through producers, managers or other middlemen.
The partnership between Samsung and TRON is intended to strengthen acceptance for more smartphone users. And with the expected addition of cryptocurrency wallets to even budget Galaxy phones, TRON will benefit in terms of expanded access.
