The Kuwaiti airline Jazeera is buying 28 “Neo” -class aircraft from Airbus

Nov 16 (UPI) – The Kuwaiti airline Jazeera Airways has agreed to buy more than two dozen aircraft from the French manufacturer Airbus, the companies announced on Tuesday on the third day of the Dubai Air Show.

The airline said the deal covers 20 Airbus A320neos and eight A321neos, which are multipurpose aircraft that compete with the Boeing 737 Max fleet.

Jazeera Airways said it has an option for an additional five aircraft. The deal is worth more than $ 3 billion.

“By using both the A320neo and A321-Neo options, we have great flexibility to expand our network to medium- and long-haul destinations from Kuwait,” said Rohit Ramachandran, CEO of Jazeera, in a statement.

“We will effectively double our current fleet size to 35 aircraft by 2026,” added Jazeera Chairman Marwan Boodai.

The Dubai Air Show is a significant event in the industry, especially for airlines and routes in the Middle East. Boeing has not yet announced any new deals at the show.

The A320neo entered service in 2016 and is said to be more fuel efficient and have fewer CO2 emissions than conventional aircraft such as the A320.
