The Merry Dash program encourages business visits to the city center

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Ches Marie boutique on Chaparral Street in downtown Corpus Christi has been up and down since it opened three years ago.

This year’s Christmas shopping season has gotten off to a good start, however, and now shoppers are being drawn to the area through the Merry Dash program.

If you check-in online at enough participating downtown businesses, you’ll get prizes thanks to the creators of the program – Visit Corpus Christi and the Downtown Management District.

“You are doing a fantastic job,” said Chelsea Nye, owner of Ches Marie Boutique, of the two organizations. “I have a feeling that they just attract people.

17 companies are participating in Merry Dash.

Visit Corpus Christi Brand Manager America Segura says if you check into five of them you will receive a sticker with a special “Home for the Holidays” logo on it.

If you check in at nine you get a koozie.

And when you hit all 17 stores, it’s a free t-shirt.

“The goal of the program was to showcase downtown, as well as the businesses, and to really excite people and see how downtown Corpus Christi really did thrive over the Christmas season,” said Segura.

Dash works in the boutique.

Nye says she saw several people talking about the program in her story on Friday.

“Come on over and have fun visiting some of the different stores and see what Downtown really has to offer,” she said.
