Tweets To Show Number Of Views: Musk Assures Dogecoin Founder

A few hours back, Elon Musk took to Twitter to proclaim that the social media platform was working on a software update that will show users their “true” account status. Enabling the reform will make users know if they have been shadowbanned or not. It will also give them an avenue to appeal.

Twitter is working on a software update that will show your true account status, so you know clearly if you’ve been shadowbanned, the reason why and how to appeal

A shadow ban, as such, refers to partially blocking or blacklisting a user’s profile to bring down visibility without their knowledge. Doing so usually leads to less engagement with the account.

Twitter has been enduring criticism from Free Press founder Bari Weiss, who has alleged that Elon Musk’s company has actively shadow-banned some accounts to “prevent disfavored tweets from trending.” she added

“Twitter once had a mission “to give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers.” Along the way, barriers nevertheless were erected.”

Elon Musk Re-Affirms Feature Launch

Opining on the same, Dogecoin founder Billy Markus tweeted earlier today that it would be “interesting” when some people learned that they were not shadow banned, but just had deficit engagements because “they don’t say anything worth reading.”

it’ll be interesting when some people learn they aren’t actually shadowbanned, it’s just that they don’t say anything worth reading

Assuring the Dogecoin founder, Elon Musk confirmed that tweets will show a view count in a few weeks, similar to videos. He added that Twitter was “much more alive” than people think.

Acknowledging the same, Markus said that he liked that change. He hoped that the new rollout would encourage users to interact more. He further opined that all the users could make Twitter “more alive” by liking and commenting.

i like that change

i see a lot of people complaining they feel like they’re just talking to the void

i hope that kind of thing encourages them to interact more too – everyone can help make it more alive for each other, liking and commenting

Business verification status

Towards the end of November, Musk revealed that the social media giant will launch its delayed “Verified” service in December. He said that there would be a “gold check” for companies, a grey-colored one for government accounts, and the existing blue one for individuals, irrespective of their celebrity status.

Jane Manchun Wong revealed that it seemed like the Business Verification Status was being rolled out to more accounts. Per the app researcher’s tweet, prominent names like LinkedIn, Google, Disney, and Marvel had been vested with the golden check.
