Visa partners with 60 crypto platforms to enable consumers to spend digital currency at 80 million merchants – Finance Bitcoin News

Visa’s crypto chief has announced that the payment giant has partnered with around 60 leading crypto platforms “to launch card programs that will make it easier for consumers to exchange and spend digital currencies at 80 million merchant locations around the world.” He emphasized: “We have built a lot of momentum in this area and will continue to support the crypto ecosystem in various ways.”

Visa is committed to growing the crypto ecosystem

Visa chief crypto chief Cuy Sheffield spoke about the digital asset payments giant’s efforts in an interview published Monday with NDTV.

“At Visa, the scope and scope of our crypto work has grown dramatically,” he began. “The number of people working on crypto in any way across functions at Visa is now in the hundreds, compared to just a handful of employees. And we have more than doubled our number of partnerships with crypto platforms in the last 18 months – to up to 60 partnerships today. ”Sheffield stated:

We have partnered with more than 60 of the leading crypto platforms like FTX, Blockfi, Crypto.com, Coinbase and Binance to launch card programs that make it easy for consumers to exchange and spend digital currencies at 80 million merchant locations worldwide.

“Crypto-linked cards make it easy for consumers to exchange and spend digital currencies without cafes, dry cleaners or grocery stores having to accept crypto at the checkout,” he continued. “All crypto to fiat conversions are instant behind the scenes. In-store or online, it’s as easy as a normal Visa transaction. “

The executive was asked if Visa plans to launch a crypto advisory service in India. The company announced the launch of its crypto advisory services in early December.

“Visa aims to provide our crypto advisory services to clients worldwide wherever there is interest, and currently we are providing services in markets where regulations allow such transactions,” he replied.

The Visa head of crypto said:

Ultimately, we want to serve as a bridge connecting the crypto ecosystem to our global network of 80 million merchant locations and more than 15,000 financial institutions.

“We have built a lot of momentum in this area and we will continue to support the crypto ecosystem in a number of ways,” he concluded.
